The signal can be used to activate a shift light, rpm activation switch, or tachometer. This works with Super-Mags, Sprint-Mags, Pro-Mags and Vertex magnetos.
Typically, the GMR pickup is clamped to the wire connecting the mag to the positive terminal of the transformer or the hot side of the kill-switch.
